Nutritious AND flavour-loaded, NY will ad a huge punch to any meal! 

Nutritional yeast is an inactive yeast. It is a complete protein (1oz contains 14g of protein.), which makes it an excellent protein alternative for vegetarians. Even better, it has a very pleasant nutty, creamy flavour which makes it a popular ingredient in cheese substitutes by vegans, such as in place of parmesan cheese. Nutritional Yeast is also high in B vitamins. More importantly, it can be a reliable source of B12 which is especially relevant to vegetarians since the most viable sources usually come from animal products, making it a nutrient often lacking in those following a plant based diet.

Apart from protein, 1 oz of nutritional yeast also contains 7g of fibre. Fibre is crucial for proper digestion, as well as for controlling constipation and balancing cholesterol. Also very low in sodium, nutritional yeast becomes very important for those trying to control their  blood pressure and prevent heart disease and weight gain.

Nutritional yeast can be easily found in most bulk stores such as bulk barn, and in most health food stores. It is not very expensive at all. Store it in a cool, dry place or refrigerate it, and It keeps indefinitely!

So sprinkle it on your pasta instead of parmesan cheese, dust it on your popcorn instead of drowning it in salt and butter, or even ad some to your sauces or stews. With it’s delicious flavor, you get to kill several birds with one stone. It’s nutritious, delicious, long lasting, & it won’t break your wallet! Isn’t that what we’re all looking for in our food these days?!
